What’s
new.

New features and beta updates. The latest entry is at the top.

Hoppster is coming to Android.

Alongside the iPhone app, an Android app is now being built – for Android 10 and later. It’s coming together step by step; the map with every ground is already there, search and the logbook are next. We’re not giving a date yet.

  • Same account, same logbook. With your Hoppster account, Android will show the same logbook as your iPhone. Syncing comes in a later stage.
  • Bring it from your iPhone. Before that, you’ll be able to move your logbook from iPhone to Android as a file.
  • Testers wanted. Before an app is allowed on Google Play, at least twelve people have to test it for two weeks. How to join is on the Beta page.

Your own patches, your hopper year, clubs as a whole.

Another round on the same day:

  • Your own patches. This lunchtime’s idea has become a first version: pick a name, symbol, colour and your grounds, and Hoppster keeps count. Submitting them comes once our server is ready. More
  • Your hopper year. Your year in review to swipe through – matches, new grounds, goals, your ground of the year – every card shareable as an image.
  • New patches. Cup night, New Year, League complete, derbies across city limits – and the “Get involved” group for everyone who reports mistakes in the data.
  • Clubs instead of teams. Werder Bremen is one club with seven teams, not seven clubs.
  • Moving over from more apps. Besides Futbology and the Groundhopper App, Hoppster now also reads lists from Footbeen, myGrounds and your own spreadsheets with a header row. Got a real export? Send it to us and we’ll check that everything comes through.
  • Tidier data. Duplicate clubs merged, grounds named properly, wrong countries fixed.

Version 0.4: patches, a faster map, sharing trips.

The app is close to beta. A lot has been added in the last few days – the highlights:

  • Patches. A patch collection in your logbook: first ground, ten countries, floodlights, a derby, a double header and more. Earned ones with the date, open ones as a silhouette. All patches
  • The map is fast. Where there are lots of matches, it groups them into clusters; tap one to zoom in. The number on a cluster takes you to a list of exactly those matches.
  • Sports parks and pitches kept apart. The map shows the sports park, with its individual pitches underneath.
  • Leagues by type. Which level, men or women, youth, league or cup – instead of ticking hundreds of leagues one by one.
  • Share trips. A link is all it takes; friends see the matches even without the app.
  • What a trip costs. Fuel or train, tickets, a place to stay – and whether you’ll need a night away.
  • Photograph your tickets. The app reads price, block, row and seat by itself, right on the iPhone.
  • Moved, postponed, called off. Hoppster lets you know when something changes for a match in your trips.
  • More than one favourite club and settings grouped by topic instead of one long list.

Planned: your own patches. Not built yet, just an idea we’re working on: you invent a patch with your own rule – say, “every ground on the Weser” – keep it in your logbook and can submit it to us. We’d release the good ones for everyone. More

What’s next? Next up is the beta via Apple’s TestFlight. If you’d like to join, drop us a line – how it works is on the Beta page.
